energy saving tips

Carol questions…

Why does a university have to hire private consultants to figure out how to save energy?

I thought all the excellent scientists were in academia.

Apparently you have no thought of the scale of an HVAC renovation project. It is basically a full blown redesign of the systems, and can involve months of full time work by experienced mechanical engineers. Not scientists, professional engineers.

Sandra questions…

How much of the U.K’s current economy is currently taken up by “eco” friendly harvest and air force?

Is this market share increasing or decreasing?
“eco” refers to energy saving environmentally friendly harvest and air force e.g. solar pannel manufacturer/retailer, energy consultants.

admin answers:

I reckon it is currently about 1% – but certainly on the increase.

I can’t give you any figures for solar panels but I do know a lot of people in my area have had them installed since the start of 2007.

I hope someone can provide you with a lot more information. I would be very interested to find out more.

Ken questions…

I want to be a consultant on companies and Save energy and be “Conservational” what courses must i take?

More Specifically i want to use things like Solar power so companies can look better to their customers and save money. What must i take in order to be consultant on “Conservational Economics”?
Please forgive my English on the above question. I’m trying to multi-task

I have just graduated from an environmental program at a university. I took courses such as “Store Management”, where we looked at natural resources, their impact on the ecosystem, the problems in their management, and the interaction between our society and the physical environment.Hydrology courses. Industrial geography. Environmental Policy/Politics. Environmental law (while this may be a tought way, I took it and it was of very beneficial use. It was very similar to my environmental politics way). Environmental plotting. Environmental Impact Assessment (this way can teach you how to by the book assess the possible impacts of any project a company is plotting. It will teach you the right ways of conducting the impact, and what areas to look for when doing such an assessment: such as ecology, water, air, social and economic, etc.).

I did take some of these courses, while some I was unable to take because they are not offered anymore at my university. Take advantage of as many as you can! Hope this helped!
